Why Join a Speakers Club ?

Most of us have a need at some time to be able to speak effectively in front of an audience. A very large number of people suffer acute tension and anxiety when faced with such a task and, aware that they cannot express themselves effectively, many avoid speaking in front of even very small audiences. As a result, the reluctant speaker may miss an important opportunity to put forward a deeply held view and the audience is deprived of what may have been an enlightening expression of opinion.

Speakers Clubs have many members who, at one time, believed that they could not speak in public. With the willing help of their fellow members they have overcome their fears and have gained in confidence and fluency.

A Speakers Club can be described as a ‘workshop for self development’. Within the friendly environment of the Club, aspiring speakers are made welcome and encouraged to take the first steps to achieving their goal of being able to conquer the tension and anxiety so that they are able to speak effectively. The Club will provide the essential feedback in a balanced and constructive manner, which will enable the aspiring speaker to progress and improve.

The skills required to speak effectively in public cannot be learned solely from books or on your own without the benefit of experienced guidance or audience reaction. Our experience leads us to believe that there is no better way to learn these skills than in the warm, friendly atmosphere of a Speakers Club.
