The Rt Hon, The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr John Galvin will welcome members and guests of the Association of Speakers Clubs to their annual Conference on Saturday 24th April 2010 at the Park Inn Hotel, York.
Come and support your District in the gladiatorial arena of words, gestures and audience rapport. The competitions will start on Friday evening with the Topics Competition. The Speech Competition will follow the A G M on Saturday and we will finish with the Evaluation Competition on Sunday morning. Look, listen, learn and be amazed at the high standard of presentations.
The Gala Dinner is held in the hotel on Saturday evening in honour of the incoming President, Gwyneth Millard.
Why not spend some extra time in this beautiful ancient City steeped in history? Visit York Minster, the second largest Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe or walk the Bar Walls that enclose the medieval City. See how the Vikings lived at the Jorvik Viking Centre and a visit to the National Railway Museum is a must, or just walk down the medieval street of the butchers, the Shambles. This is now home to many privately run unique shops which, like all the City Centre, is a shoppers dream. Take in a restaurant or a pub meal; you will be spoilt for choice with a plethora of real ale pubs to whet your appetite.
The Park Inn Hotel is situated on the River Ouse and minutes away from the City Centre and the Station. See you in York on 23, 24, 25 April 2010.
