Leadership at the ASC
With so many changes at the ASC recently, we know it can feel hard to keep up with the who’s who, so we thought it might be helpful if the National Officers introduced themselves. We’ve included Verity who was successful at interview to succeed Tom in the spring and has been working alongside him for the last few months to ensure a smooth transition!
The reference to Gallup strengths refers to some leadership training that Catherine arranged recently and shows a good balance of strengths within the team.
Catherine Williamson
When not overseeing the ASC, I work as an Executive Coach. I am mum to Joseph (24) and Alice (21) but by marriage to John, have 6 step-children, 5 daughters and 1 son. Since I enjoy cooking great, big, voluminous meals no one starves. My top strength is “Activator” which means I am constantly initiating, always got something on the go and am not blessed with too much patience. My moment of fame was appearing in Hello Magazine with Peter Stringfellow, dressed as the Sheriff of Nottingham attending a Despots Ball!
Ramana Sundara
I was trained as a Food Scientist and worked for Nestle Research for over 20 years in Switzerland, Germany and York. When my son and daughter settled in their professions, I moved to academia to lead MSc agri-food programmes. My top strength is “Win Over Others”. I continue to learn from others through my volunteering at the British Heart Foundation, National Trust, Neighbourhood Watch & of course the ASC. I’m also a Lay Member of North West Yorkshire Magistrates Advisory Committee.
Michael Cox
I’m a student at Durham, still making my way through life’s early choppy waters. I like nothing more than to bask in the comfort of a great big chair, book in hand and glass of red in the other. My top strength is “Communication” and I love to talk and chat, and often come out with many a musing. In my youth, I always enjoyed acting and played all the big roles: Zazu, the Ugly Duckling and, of course, Prince Charming!
Chris Hindle
I was born in Rugby and now live in Epsom near the racecourse, with my partner and stepdaughter, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I started as a Finance trainee 32 years ago and I am now an FD for UK Operations with Thales with whom I started in 1993, one of the world’s largest technology and engineering companies. I am a big football fan, particularly of Norwich City and have been to world cups in South Africa, Brazil and Russia, including at the Final in both Jo’burg (2014) and Moscow (2018). My top Gallup strength is ‘Strategic’.
Tom Scott
I’m from West Lothian in Scotland and I live with my wife and two sons. After completing my Honours and Masters degrees, I have worked in the third sector for 13 years and am currently the Improvement Adviser at See Me, Scotland a behaviour change programme to end mental health stigma and discrimination. By way of some quirky background, I was once ranked 11th in the world at Nintendo Wii Archery! My top Gallup strength is ‘Intellection’ which helped me as I contributed to the ASC change process and wrote the new Speakers Guide.
Verity Eunson Hickey
I live and work in Haywards Heath, Sussex. I’m married with one son and a husky cross rescue dog called Diamond. My day job is as a family solicitor and I’m passionate about helping my clients resolve their disputes in positive way. Unsurprisingly, my top Gallup strength is “Harmony”! I am about to start training for my first ever marathon as I have a place in the London Marathon in October!
Lucy Pitts
I live in West Sussex with my husband, three teenage children and two enormous dogs (one of them weighs in at a mere 80kg!). After a career as a barrister, I retrained as a copywriter and journalist when my children arrived and now work as an editor and freelance writer. I’m a diehard Francophile and most days you’ll find me out trailing running. Like Chris, my top Gallup strength is “Strategic”.
