Success in the South East

by Editorial Team Leave a Comment

On Sunday the 1st August, South East Region finally held their annual competition, originally postponed just before the first lockdown in March 2020 and became the last Region to select their National Finalists ready for next month’s conference!

It was a fantastic day, in a lovely new venue in central London. A slightly smaller crowd than usual but no less passionate for it. It was obvious how much people had missed being able to meet in person.

After a warm and friendly welcome from our new Regional Coordinator, Nessa Jamieson, the competitions got underway. Everyone was feeling a little rusty and nervous about speaking in front of real people again but none of that showed in our amazing competitors.

SE Public Speaking Contest

We enjoyed some excellent Evaluations, terrific Topics and superb speeches but alas there could only be one winner in each competition and this year those honours went to Iain Parkinson (Evaluation), Anna Campbell (Topics) and Verity Eunson-Hickey (Speech) all representing the South Area. Well done all!

And the countdown has begun

The ASC’s annual competition includes a showcase of our best talent by way of our three national competitions. With all the regional winners now confirmed, we’ll be featuring details of this year’s national contestants over the coming weeks. National Conference is on the 18th September in Birmingham. Good luck all, we can’t wait for you to take to the stage.
