As you know, it’s enormously helpful to organisers to have a good idea of numbers as early as possible.
The new venue
We have a new venue for the main event and it is stunning. The Birmingham Repertory Theatre is Birmingham’s premier producing theatre with a fantastic auditorium along with recording and broadcasting facilities. It will provide our competitors with the most incredible platform and experience and it will enable us to broadcast Conference to members who can’t attend to an incredibly high standard – comparable to watching a theatrical production on TV. The new venue is also super convenient for hotels and transport links but perhaps more importantly, it is spacious enough to allow for full social distancing. Although this is an abbreviated and hybrid event this year for obvious reasons, our new venue will mean that it is still a truly memorable and special event.
The Agenda
The Conference agenda has now been published. Proceedings will kick off at 9 am with our AGM and you can access a copy of the agenda here:
ASC National Conference Agenda SDHR
This is going to be a unique event in that we have some competitors performing live in Birmingham and other competitors performing via a live link. In addition to which of course we will be live streaming the event to members who can’t attend and recording the event too. We have come such a long way in such a short time, and I doubt anyone who attended the Edinburgh Conference in 2019 would ever have imagined that the ASC would have adapted to and mastered these new mediums so quickly and be able to put on such a dyamic, complex but exciting event! It really will make it a unique event in ASC history.
Please join us on Friday night
Competitors, organisers and judges are meeting for an informal event on the Friday evening before Conference and there are currently a limited number of places available if you’d like to join them. The evening will start at 7.30 pm at the Old Joint Stock Pub and Theatre and will be an evening of food and frivolity, with Judge the Poet as a guest. The evening is £25 and all the details of the evening and how to book and pay are here:

It would be lovely to see you there!
Our Covid Safety Policy
Whilst we’re excited to be able to get together, we are very mindful of the ongoing pandemic and the need to ensure the safety of our members and those working at the various venues we’ll be visiting. With that in mind, you can download our Covid Safety Policy by clicking on the link below. Please take a few moments to read and digest it and ensure that you have taken appropriate safety steps before attending conference.
This year will be different, there is no doubt about that, but whether you attend in person or by live stream, please help us to make it the most memorable conference ever by joining us! Book Now!
Gaynor Dennett says
Hi there, Please can you advise if members need to book for live streaming. Ideally, I would like to circulate a link to our club members to pick up if they wish to view on the day. Are you planning on sending a link?
Many thanks
